Item Title Americans Must Discriminate between Excellence and Mediocrity
Speaker Wilson, Robert C.
Date CreatedNovember 03, 1978
Description

Wilson speaks about the need for discrimination based on merit in all fields, especially leadership. He believes that Americans must learn to discriminate positively to ensure that the most qualified people are in charge. Americans should not shut out multinational corporations because, based on efficiency and benefits, they are the best fit. Wilson goes on to stress merit-based admissions in schools. Believing that those that show promise at a young age should have their talents nurtured so that they can reach their highest potential and enrich society, Wilson suggests that integrating mediocre students only hurts the others. Wilson also speaks about the pitfalls of welfare as a system that nurtures mediocrity. He ends by suggesting a search for elite people that is based merit.
