Item Title Attorney General's Programs
Speaker Deukmejian, George
Date CreatedSeptember 08, 1978
Description

Deukmejian asserts that he will be the first California attorney general to truly lead in preventing youth delinquency. Crime prevention will be a high priority. California‘s criminal courts are scenes of unrealistic procedural ritual; Deukmejian will reduce this gamesmanship. He talks about drug trafficking and organized crime, and establishing a technology anti-crime unit. Deukmejian is committed to preserving the right to live without fear of becoming a victim of crime. He will enforce the death penalty. His opponent is a member of the national board of the American Civil Liberties Union, which advocates for people charged or convicted of crimes, not victims.
