Speaker Alioto, Robert F.
Date CreatedAugust 11, 1978
Description

California‘s Proposition 13 has had a positive effect in San Francisco because it forced rethinking and tightening of priorities. It also forced a reduction of the administrative overload, so that half of office administrators will return to the classroom. Yet the problems of Proposition 13 exceed the positives. Alioto focuses on its hurried implementation and resulting tremendous inequities, which anger diverse community groups. He stresses the impact of the cuts and changes on people. Alioto shares his thoughts on the direction we may be heading in education.
