Item Title Is Television Too Powerful for Us and Our Children?
Speaker Duffy, James E. (1926-)
Date CreatedAugust 04, 1978
Description

Two San Francisco events, an $11 million lawsuit and a Federal Trade Commission hearing, demonstrate the new, nationwide surge of criticism aimed at the television industry in the United States. The basic question of many critics is whether TV has become too powerful for the good of our society. Duffy addresses some of the favorite themes of the critics, as well as government regulation, children‘s programming, and advertising. Ultimately, broadcasting is a business. He favors the preservation and constant improvement of the current television system.
