Speaker Lin, Paul T. K. (1920-2004)
Date CreatedMarch 31, 1978
Description

Chinese foreign policy emerges from a global analytical perspective, which stems from the theory of three worlds espoused by Chairman Mao. Lin explores China‘s relationships in this three-world view. He believes that struggles between the First World superpowers will result in a Third World War. China will never be a superpower; it supports the struggle against superpower hegemonism, especially of the Soviet variety. The Americans and Chinese should build their friendship. Lin discusses normalizing relations with the United States, with special mention of the status of Taiwan.
