Item Title The United Nations in a Divided World
Speaker Hambro, Edvard Isak (1911-1977)
Date CreatedJune 26, 1970
Description

Hambro discusses the current state of the United Nations (UN) twenty-five years after the signing of the UN Charter in 1945. He argues the world should not be disappointed in the UN's effectiveness since the signing of the charter since those that signed it did not see the charter as the end of all troubles. He says the UN will definitely work under the charter provided the superpowers want to collaborate. Other topics he covers include the UN's current policy on "Super Power" agreements, decolonization, human rights, and the socioeconomic gap between the rich and the poor.
