The advance of information technology has increased communication by enabling rapid transmission of information across distances and has provided people with an extensive database of information on many topics. Yet, based on the issues of pseudoknowledge, the ineffective use of technology (comparing the use of computers for automatic bookkeeping to commuting by Rolls Royce), and the overwhelming abundance of information, Sarnoff questions whether these advances will adequately expand human intelligence. He advocates for the mastery of information technology to promote a breakthrough to the next level of intellectual power.
