Item Title The Asian Mind and the World Crisis
Speaker Chennault, Anna
Date CreatedMay 23, 1969
Description

Chennault discusses the cultural differences between East and West. The eroding commitment of the United States to the Vietnam War is related to an American psychology of defeat. This sense of defeat brings a new growth of isolationism and results from short sightedness. The short sightedness is evident in the sense of history in the U.S., which does not run as deep as in the East. The U.S. must be patient; the aggressors only understand one kind of language--active forces and consistent determination. She adds that world trade and communications are the most effective weapon to combat communist expansion.
