Item Title Are We Winning the War on Crime?
Speaker Younger, Evelle J.
Date CreatedApril 04, 1969
Description

Younger criticizes the permissiveness that society has granted youth in the United States. The trend of disobedience to the law exhibited by student behavior, such as blatant marijuana smoking and violent demonstrations, is not the answer. He blames the professional troublemakers, who alongside the communists, are dedicated extremists who do not care about communism, but are headed in the same direction. Younger endorses a strong education for all youth as a means of becoming integrated with and contributing to society. He concludes that there is an inherent need for social reform, but that it can only be accomplished through lawful behavior.
