Speaker Kirk, Claude R. (1926-)
Date CreatedFebruary 16, 1968
Description

The speaker believes that President Lyndon Johnson is encouraging George Wallace‘s campaign in the hopes of increasing his own chances of re-election. Although Wallace is critical of "pseudo-intellectuals," he is vulnerable to the charge of "pseudo-conservative." Wallace‘s support will erode once questions are raised about his political record and actual chance of winning the presidential election.
