Speaker Christopher, Warren M.
Date CreatedFebruary 02, 1968
Description

Christopher argues that while the majority of police duties should be done by the states, the federal government should make a concerted effort to assist the local police. He hopes the federal government can be directed towards making sure the local police are adequately prepared--in short, to ensure a 20th century police force for 20th century crime. He then talks about two bills working through Congress: a safe streets bill and a gun-control measure. Following, he talks about organized crime.
